Seminar on 2025 Industry Outlook

ITRI, as a leading think tank in Taiwan, hosts over 50 seminars annually and offers the latest insights for the industry. In anticipation of future challenges and opportunities, ITRI held a three-day seminar themed “Resilient Society x Industrial Trends,” bringing together leaders from various sectors to share their views and strategies for global markets in 2025.

This year’s seminar centered on how technology can enhance societal resilience, while examining how Taiwan aligns with international communities to foster resilience in supply chains, infrastructure, energy, resources, and productivity. More than 70 analysts shared their perspectives, exploring practices implemented in the U.S., Japan, and Europe.

ITRI published IEKTopics 2024 to share global trends and local cases of building societal resilience.

Unveiling IEKTopics 2024

At the opening of the seminar, ITRI unveiled its latest IEKTopics 2024, titled Resilience in Action: Technology Enables a Sustainable Taiwan. The publication aims to raise public awareness and call for action to improve disaster preparedness. It features 13 articles on 10 major topics, involving supply chains, disaster prevention, AI, cybersecurity, transportation, energy, and medical care. In-depth analyses of global cases provide a clear picture of how to build a resilient society.

In this context, Jeff Lin, Vice President and General Director of the Industry, Science, and Technology International Strategy Center at ITRI, highlighted Taiwan’s need to enhance its resilience. “Taiwan is prone to frequent earthquakes and typhoons. It is also an island economy with limited natural resources and relies on international trade, making it vulnerable to both short-term risks and long-term pressures. Therefore, we require comprehensive planning and early warning systems to ensure a quick disaster response and recovery, helping to minimize economic and social impacts,” he said.
