For drone manufacturers, cybersecurity is becoming just as important as flight performance. As governments tighten cybersecurity and supply chain requirements, trusted verification programs are emerging as a new gateway to international markets.
To help drone manufacturers meet these evolving requirements, ITRI has been authorized by the Association for Uncrewed Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) as the first organization outside the U.S. to conduct Green Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (Green UAS) evaluations.
Developed by AUVSI, Green UAS is a framework that evaluates the cybersecurity and supply chain integrity of commercial drone systems. It helps manufacturers demonstrate that their products are built securely, use trusted components, and meet recognized requirements for commercial, government, and defense applications.
Offering this service in Taiwan enables drone manufacturers across Asia–Pacific to pursue U.S.-aligned Green UAS evaluations outside the U.S., reducing the time, cost, and logistical barriers associated with overseas reviews. It also provides a more convenient pathway for regional supply chains—including those serving customers in Japan and other markets—to access these assessments through Taiwan.
ITRI’s Green UAS assessment services help Asia–Pacific manufacturers meet U.S. cybersecurity and supply chain requirements.
Introducing the Green UAS evaluation services also advances Taiwan–U.S. cooperation in the drone sector. ITRI signed an MoU with Aerospace Industrial Development Corporation (AIDC) to collaborate on Green UAS testing and verification, marking another step toward building a comprehensive verification ecosystem.
Governments are adopting different verification frameworks with different priorities. Europe emphasizes safety, Japan focuses on service applications, while the U.S. places particular importance on cybersecurity and trusted supply chains.
ITRI enables manufacturers to apply for U.S. evaluations while aligning its services with certification approaches adopted in the U.S., Europe, and Japan. This integrated approach strengthens Taiwan’s role as an Asia–Pacific hub for drone assessment services.
ITRI supports manufacturers throughout the qualification process, from application and documentation to supply chain review and cybersecurity evaluation, helping companies prepare for Green UAS requirements more efficiently. Drone manufacturers can work more closely with technical experts while reducing the burden of overseas assessments.
